Avoid False Boundaries and Limitations | Story of The Elephant and Rope

Once a traveler was passing through an elephant camp. Suddenly he stopped and surprised by the fact that such mighty and strong creatures were tied only by a small & thin rope on their front leg. He was completely confused, no cages, no chains then what was the reason that the elephants did not break away from the rope.

moral story of the elephant rope

The traveler was curious to know, why the elephants didn't use their strength to break the rope and escape the camp. He asked to an elephant trainer why the elephants just stood there and made no attempts to get away?

The trainer replied, when they were young and less powerful, we used the same size of rope to tie them and at that age, these ropes were enough to hold them. As the elephants grew up, they were conditioned to believe that they can not break away. They believe that the rope can still hold them so they never try to break the rope and get away.

The traveler was amazed by the answer and thought that the elephants could use their power to free themselves from their restraints but they believed that they were incapable of doing so.

Moral of the story: Failure is a part of learning, we should not give up trying. No matter how much the world tries to hold you back, you should always continue with the belief that what you want to achieve is possible.
